Training, Teaching and Capacity Strengthening

Capacity strengthening is central to RCESDH’s mission of translating evidence into improved policy and practice. The Centre develops and delivers practice-oriented training programmes that equip health professionals, programme managers, researchers and policymakers to integrate gender, intersectionality and equity into health systems. Its flagship initiatives include the WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research Regional Mentoring Institute, for which the Centre developed nine training modules now being adapted for wider regional dissemination. RCESDH also teaches postgraduate public health courses, develops customised training programmes for governments and development partners, and mentors researchers and practitioners, ensuring that cutting-edge evidence is translated into sustainable improvements in health systems and service delivery.
